PSA Educational Scholarship Program
Overview
The Pastel Society of America offers a scholarship program designed to support members in attending in person workshops. This opportunity provides partial tuition assistance to artists for whom financial considerations may otherwise limit participation.
Our goal is to encourage continued artistic growth, learning, and engagement within the pastel community.
What the Scholarship Covers
• $300 toward 3-day workshops
• $200 toward 2-day workshops
Scholarships are applied directly to workshop tuition.
Who Should Apply
This program is open to PSA members in good standing at the Associate, Signature, or Master level.
We especially encourage applications from artists who:
• Are actively working in pastel
• Have a clear desire to grow their skills
• Would benefit from financial support to participate
How to Apply
Applications include:
• A short written statement about your goals and interest in the workshop
• Up to 5 recent pastel paintings
Artwork should be completed within the past 2 years and primarily in pastel.
Application Timeline
Application Opens: July 1, 2026
Deadline: August 15, 2026
Notification: Approximately 2 weeks after the deadline
Looking Ahead
Future scholarship cycles will align with upcoming PSA workshops. An additional Fall 2026 application cycle is anticipated to support Winter and Spring 2027 workshops.

Who is eligible to apply?
PSA members in good standing at the Associate, Signature, or Master level are eligible to apply.
Do I need to demonstrate financial need?
Yes, this is a need-based scholarship. However, no financial documentation is required. Applicants simply confirm that financial assistance would make participation possible.
What do I need to submit with my application?
A short written statement and up to 5 recent pastel paintings completed within the past 2 years. You will also confirm that pastel is your primary medium.
Can I apply if I’ve already registered for a workshop?
Yes. If selected, the scholarship will be applied to your tuition or reimbursed as appropriate.
Can I apply for more than one workshop?
You will be asked to indicate the workshop you wish to attend for the current cycle. Awards are tied to that selection.
Can I defer my scholarship to a later workshop?
No. Scholarships must be used within the cycle in which they are awarded.
What does the scholarship cover?
Scholarships apply to workshop tuition only. Travel, lodging, and other expenses are not included.
What if the workshop I want is full?
Scholarships are applied to workshops with available space at the time of award. If your selected workshop is full, PSA may offer placement in another available workshop within the same period.
When will I be notified of the decision?
Applicants will be notified approximately 2 weeks after the application deadline.
Can international members apply?
Yes. International members are welcome to apply but are responsible for their own travel and lodging.
