Sydney McGinley studied for many years at the Barnstone Studios in Pennsylvania where emphasis was placed on design, color methods, and drawing.  The tradition of the masters was the foundation of these studies.  Most often her compositions are based on the grid of the golden section.

She has won many national and international awards and her work is collected in the United States and Europe.

Several publications have presented her pastel work including major professional magazines and art books in the United States and abroad.

The female figure has been the source and inspiration of her work for twenty years, she finds their graceful form allows personal interpretation and endless opportunity for working in a series.
