Aline Ordman grew up outside New York City and received her early education at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and graduated in 1975 with a BFA.  She subsequently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and eventually attended The Academy of Art College (now University) in San Francisco receiving an additional BFA in illustration.  Upon graduation she taught figure drawing there for about 8 years before moving to New England, specifically the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire.

Aline initially worked primarily in pastels and has received numerous awards in that medium. She is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a Master Circle Pastelist with the International Association of Pastel Societies; a Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America and a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society.

Her work has appeared in publications and in 2020 she was the recipient of the Founder’s Award with the Pastel Journal’s Top 100 along with an article about her work. In 2018 Aline was the recipient of the Prix de Pastel at the IAPS annual juried show.

Aline currently teaches workshops throughout the country and Europe and was honored to be a presenter at the Plein Air Conventions of 2016 and 2017. She was an instructor in the 2018 IAPS convention.
