Pastel Society of America is an association of professional and emerging artists who work in the pastel medium. Founded in 1972 by Flora Giffuni, PSA is the oldest pastel society in existence in America.
PSA is a model for standards of excellence well recognized by the art community here and abroad. Through classes, workshops and demonstrations we attract and encourage new talent in the use of pastels. PSA's annual juried exhibitions at the National Arts Club provide viewers with an opportunity to appreciate pastel as a lasting, permanent art form.

In addition, PSA regularly organizes regional exhibitions for its members.  PSA also sponsors an ongoing exhibition and research center for the study of pastel at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio.

Artists interested in forming pastel societies in their own local areas are welcome to contact PSA for start-up assistance. Information regarding the Pastel Society of America can be found in the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution. Details of our activities can be accessed by clicking on one of the categories at left.
