Biography My goal as a traditional realist painter is to depict, through the beauty of color, certain evocative settings in which the effects of light enhance objects and locations of intrinsic beauty and timeless appeal. Pastel is a wonderful medium for this exploration. Claudia Seymour is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, the Connecticut Pastel Society, and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. She is a Resident Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club, a Brush Section artist in oil and pastel of The Pen and Brush, and a member of the American Artists Professional League and Academic Artists Association. Ms Seymour's work has appeared in over 60 juried regional and national exhibitions, including not only those of the above-listed organizations but also the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Hudson Valley Art Association, International Association of Pastel Societies, and the National Exhibitions of the Pastel Societies of New Mexico, North Florida, and the West Coast. She has won numerous prizes and honors, including both best-in-show and first-place awards. Principally a still life painter, Ms Seymour works exclusively from life, creating scenes that portray a timeless elegance and serenity through her concentration on translucent light and her choice and arrangements of antiques, natural objects, fabrics, flowers and plants, and other materials. She has studied at the Art Students League in New York, the Silvermine Art School in Connecticut, and the Cape Cod School of Art. |
