Bob Gerbracht


Biography

Bob Gerbracht is a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist and an Advisor to the Pastel Society of the West Coast. Painting and teaching painting has been his occupation all his life. His work has been included in numerous magazine articles, most recently in Pastel Artist International, November/December, 2001 and The Pastel Journal, March/April, 2002. Books, which illustrate his work in pastel are Best of Pastel, Best of Pastel 2, Pastel Inspirations and The Best of Portrait Painting. His biography is printed in Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in California, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in American Education. His many honors include the American Artist Magazine Achievement Award for Teacher of Pastel, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sonnoma Plein Air Corporation, and the Pastel Laureate Hall of Fame of the Pastel Society of the West Coast. He teaches year round in San Francisco and offers workshops around the country. Known primarily as a colorist and portrait and figure painter, he has been invited to demonstrate his working procedure before prestigious organizations including the Commonwealth Club of California, the International Association of Pastel Societies Convention, and the Pastel Society of America as well as numerous regional art associations. He participated in the Pastel Society of America Exhibition at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. He received his BFA in Painting at Yale and his MFA from University of Southern California He makes his home in Pinole, California.
